Local Craft Shows

I am getting really excited for spring to arrive! I want to get out there this spring and start selling locally!

Does anyone know of annually, weekly, or whatever - shows, markets, or any type of place where people can sell their handmade goods. I know about the Halifax and Dartmouth Saturday markets, but I'd love to know of more - especially in the Halifax area.

Comment here and maybe we can compile a list for everyone!

Welcome to our newest APST members!

Here are the newest members of APST -- please welcome them and check out their lovely shops!

Clean and Bright Soaps and Candles
from Nova Scotia makes soaps and natural perfume oils and also blends teas. Here are some of her scrumptious looking soaps!

Tara's Jewelry Shop is based in Halifax. She makes beautiful beaded jewellery with a great mix of semiprecious stones and other kinds of beads. Here's her Electric blue and black onyx bracelet!

Squeaky Chinchilla from Fredericton makes chainmaille and wire work jewellery and funky buttons. This Byzantine copper necklace, designed for a man, is a real work of art.

Mommy's Yelling Girl is also from Halifax, and she makes the most adorable children's and baby's accessories. Look at this pacifier clip -- can you imagine anything sweeter?

My heartiest apologies for taking such a long time to add you guys -- we'll have to figure out a way that this doesn't happen again :)

Trunkt Showcase with some APST members

Trying out new things at Trunkt I made my first showcase featuring one of my favourite things: blue birds. Luckily, some APST members have just such things in their shops!

It's been an inspiring February!

It's Ashton here! I realized that I have never actually posted anything in this blog - I have just been quietly reading and taking in the wonderful information that everyone has been expressing! I checked out the "Love Me" boutique since reading it here and I was really impressed - I saw your note cards Scotiamade - there are too cute (and hilarious).

I hope everyone is having a lovely February! I know the creative juices have been flowing out of this place like crazy!

I'm feeling a little cranky...'s temporary, but while the disgruntlement is here, I have been producing little mini-notes that are handy to distributing to those who might be bringing the crank to you.

They are about the size of a business card and you can get a variety pack of eight. - good for people who park like jerks, servers who are rude, and just the generally nutty.

This one is fairly mild, and some are a little more mature I guess, but I love them all equally, just like children.

And I'd be down for a little get together some time, maybe when the crank has eased a little :P
Hi guys, February is underway! Next month is Spring! Horray:))
What's everyone up to? We should try to have a get together sometime:)
Just listed this print in my shop, AliceinParis

Not exactly Etsy, but still a sales opportunity

I'm organizing a craft boutique as part of the 2nd Annual Atlantic Waves Conference (our website needs work). Atlantic Waves is a conference to connect Atlantic Canadians working toward women’s equality. The conference is scheduled for March 7-9 at Saint Mary's University in Halifax. The boutique is run during the conference and last year featured local crafters/artisans interested in selling their products to conference goers. I think that the handmade, locally produced, items sold on Etsy would fit in well with the boutique and the conference.

The boutique is not limited to craft - last year we also had interest groups, such as the Midwifery Coalition of Nova Scotia and the Ecology Action Centre, present at the event.

I went last year to sell sock monkeys and sold out of the few that I had with me.

If you're interested in participating in the boutique, or would like more information on the conference (registration is ongoing and we are currently accepting proposals for presentations and workshops), please feel free to contact me - either through a comment here or at crafty [at] hellopineapples [dot] com. The cost to participate is a suggested donation of $10 for a table (we're a non-profit group on a budget, but part of our mandate is to include as many people as possible, which is why we are only asking for a donation).

(I'm having some troubles with blogger, so if I accidentally post this more than once - I apologize and will delete extra posts ASAP).

LOVE these from Nadine at Pixel8ed

Its February! Did everyone survive the first month of January 2008?
I'm in a very loving mood already and thinking lots about the BIG day, Valentine's Day and found these made by Nadine from Saint John, NB.
Now my goal for the month is to get busy and love my friends and family with some handmade goodies for Valentine's day!
